Dr.Dre Beats by Bose

Published on May 3, 2012 by in Featured, How-to's, News

So this guy decided that Beats have terrible audio quality for their price (which they do) so he decided to get a nice pair of Bose QC 15 and give them that look of Beats by Dre. He got it to work, but he ended up paying more for the QC 15 and supplies than if he had just bought beats.

Nikon D3200 is the Canon T2i?

Published on April 18, 2012 by in Featured, News

The Nikon D3200 was just announced and it seems like a great camera to start with. It packs a 24.2 megapixel  sensor with an iso range of 100-6400 and it can shoot at up to 4 frames per second.

353 25492 D3200 back Nikon D3200 is the Canon T2i?353 25492 D3200 left Nikon D3200 is the Canon T2i?

It finally brings manual exposure control during movie mode to lower-end Nikon DSLR’s. In all honesty it reminds me of Canon’s T2i. The only real difference I see is that it have 6 more megapixels than the T2i. Both camera’s can shoot video at the same resolutions and frame rates such as: 1080p at 30/25/24 frames per second and 720p at 60/50 frames per second. The D3200 can only shoot .3 frames per second faster than the T2i (which can shoot 3.7 frames per second).

Nikon has been lacking a cinematic movie mode and the D3200 brings Nikon up to speed with the Canon line up of entry level cameras. Priced at $699.95 for the body and lens, it’s a pretty good deal, I may have to get one myself.

Here’s a good video from Jared Polin over at FroKnowsPhoto.com previewing the D3200.

Facebook buys Instagram For… 1 BILLION DOLLARS.

Published on April 9, 2012 by in Featured, Reviews

FacebookbuysInstagram1 Facebook buys Instagram For... 1 BILLION DOLLARS.

Facebook has just acquired Instagram for $1,000,000,000.00. it’s crazy to think how an application made by 2 students and run by a company of 13 people could be sold for that much. Especially since it really doesn’t do all that much.

Facebook doesn’t plan on changing Instagram all that much, just incorporating it more into Facebook. You’ll still be able to have followers and take photos on instagram which aren’t shared with your friends. Take a look at Mark’s post to find out more.

Here’s what Mark Zuckerberg wrote on his Facebook Wall:

I’m excited to share the news that we’ve agreed to acquire Instagram and that their talented team will be joining Facebook.

For years, we’ve focused on building the best experience for sharing photos with your friends and family. Now, we’ll be able to work even more closely with the Instagram team to also offer the best experiences for sharing beautiful mobile photos with people based on your interests.

We believe these are different experiences that complement each other. But in order to do this well, we need to be mindful about keeping and building on Instagram’s strengths and features rather than just trying to integrate everything into Facebook.

That’s why we’re committed to building and growing Instagram independently. Millions of people around the world love the Instagram app and the brand associated with it, and our goal is to help spread this app and brand to even more people.

We think the fact that Instagram is connected to other services beyond Facebook is an important part of the experience. We plan on keeping features like the ability to post to other social networks, the ability to not share your Instagrams on Facebook if you want, and the ability to have followers and follow people separately from your friends on Facebook.

These and many other features are important parts of the Instagram experience and we understand that. We will try to learn from Instagram’s experience to build similar features into our other products. At the same time, we will try to help Instagram continue to grow by using Facebook’s strong engineering team and infrastructure.

This is an important milestone for Facebook because it’s the first time we’ve ever acquired a product and company with so many users. We don’t plan on doing many more of these, if any at all. But providing the best photo sharing experience is one reason why so many people love Facebook and we knew it would be worth bringing these two companies together.

We’re looking forward to working with the Instagram team and to all of the great new experiences we’re going to be able to build together.

If  you’re an Instagram user, are you excited for this?

Nikon Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 D AF lens – Review

Published on March 27, 2012 by in Featured, Reviews

The 50mm F/1.8 is a must have lens for any photographer. I’ve had this lens for almost 2 years now and I absolutely love it. I shot with just this lens for over one year, I literally only took it off my camera for cleaning. There are more photos in my Aperture library shot with this lens than any other that I’ve had, it’s just that great and it’s at a terrific price! It works with almost any Nikon DSLR* and it is a great tool to master composition, you must learn to zoom with your feet. The focusing is quick, the build is good and the manual focus is very smooth. You should definitely Get It.

*This lens will not autofocus with the lower-end DSLR’s which do not have built in focusing motors such as the D60,D40,D5000,D5100,D3100,D3000.

Here’s a video which explains that:

Apple iPad 3 vs Asus Transformer Prime

Published on March 22, 2012 by in Featured, Reviews

If you’ve been wondering whether to go with one of the top android tablets the Asus Transformer Prime or the iPad 3 here’s a video that should help you make your decision. If you like the android UI the customization and widgets go for the Transformer. Both devices are beautiful and they both have HD cameras on the back (5mp on the iPad, 8mp on the Transformer) and front facing cameras for Skype, Google+ handouts and all those great video conferencing services. If you like the simplicity and elegance of the iPad or an amazing display go for iPad. Also if you already have iOS devices such as iPod touch, iPhone or Apple Tv the iPad will blend right into your line up of gadgets well.

This video is from MKBHD. The same guy who made the video about Apple vs. Android commercials.
